Dress Code

In general, anyone coming into the school (students, staff, visitors and parents) should wear appropriate dress for a place of business. This dress code is supportive of a respectful learning environment and is consistent with the long established Hastings Prince Edward District School Board dress code.

  • Clothing should demonstrate respect for self and others with shoulders and stomach covered.
  • Graphics and slogans which portray reference to violence, profanity, sex, race, illegal drugs and/or alcohol are not acceptable.
  • Hats must be removed when students enter school and will not be worn anywhere in the building.

Students who arrive at school dress inappropriately will be invited to change. If they have nothing else to put on at school we can call home and/or provide the student with a t-shirt from the office.

HPEDSB District Dress Code

2. DISTRICT DRESS CODE

2.1 Any codes must be consistent with the Human Rights Code and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

2.2 The district code of conduct requires respect for self and others. System and school administrators expect students to wear appropriate dress.

2.3 Appropriate clothing for school and school-related activities avoids graphics and slogans which portray violence, profanity, sex, race, and illegal substances.

2.4 Students shall also refrain from wearing clothing which is unduly distracting or prevents a safety risk. Such clothing includes, but is not limited to, clothing which is sexually provocative, torn, or ragged.
