Learning to Build Success Criteria
Students in Ms. Hymus's grade 1 class were learing about lines, warm colours and cool colours in art class today. As part of the lesson, students built their "success criteria". They discussed and developed a list of features that would be included in a good piece of artwork. Students will be learning to develop more specific success criteria as the year progresses.

Annual Terry Fox Walk
We held our annual Terry Fox Walk on October 2, 2015. It was a chilly day but the sun was shining as we walked around the school yard to remember and learn about Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope.
This was the first event that was entirely organzied and run by the new Student Council. This group of dedicated students worked hard to plan the even and executed it flawlessly.
All students watched a video about Terry and his journey and then we all put our names on a banner to hang in the foyer.

Cross Country Results
On Thursday, October 1st, Mr. Vermander and some dedicated parent volunteers took 32 Queen Elizabeth School students to the Sandbanks for the School Group Cross Country Meet. While the sun was shining for the day, a cool breeze from Lake Ontario and the sandy course made the conditions challenging for the athletes.
After the competition was over and the results tallied, 12 of our students qualified for the District Cross Country event. Congratulations to Kayden Insley (2nd), Kaitlyn Harris, Kieran Young, Dolan Insley, Sarah Johnson, Brody Fraser, Nolan Steen (3rd), Ian Harrison, Case McFarland, Ghaffar Mehmood, Ben Hicks, Wilson Liu.
Congratulations to everyone and thank you to the Mr. Vermander and the parents who volunteered to help keep everyone safe.
Friday, October 2, is recognized as National Custodial Workers' Day. It is a day to celebrate custodians and the many ways that our custodians support learning in our school. We are very grateful to Mr. Greg Legere and Mr. Conor Sweet for their countless hours of hard work and the pride they take in Queen Elizabeth School. Thanks to both of you!
Waterbottles for Everyone
All students received a water bottle from Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health today as part of the Healthy Smiles program. All of our students were screened for dental health issues as part a pilot program. We are very proud of our ongoing partnership with Public Health.
We are going to be suspending our milk program until further notice. Due to the ongoing labour relations and negotiations, we will be unable to sell milk at this time. If you would like to read more about the negotations, there is a link at the bottom of our website.
